RE: 2005 Excursion PSD

Why change gears? My Dodge has a 3.55 rear end, Cummins power, an pulling a #10,000 Fiver. Milage is 12 to 14, depending upon HILLS and MOUNTAINS.

RE: recommend good seasonal campground in northern IL

There is one near Starved rock, but the name escapes me. It has a lake and pool and is home to many park models, along with your regular RV style units. We were there quite a few years back visiting my sons friends family. My wife thinks it is something like Willow lake, but that does not sound right to me. Hopefully other readers will respond. Ken

RE: 30 amp but need 50 amp

Let's see, Replacing both A/C units at about $1,200 EACH, Replace Microwave at about $ 300, OR just remember not use BOTH A/C units at the same time, along with the microwave. I think I would try the two prong adapter first, and be $2,500 richer.

Have you changed your mind?

We might be going to the International rally for Sunnybrook campers this mid July , as it is only 250 miles from our home base, BUT the wife's mother has been in and out of the hospital these past 4 months, so it all depends upon her present health. If her health is stable, it will be a go. The other problem is, her daughter and son live 1800 miles from us, thus there quick response will not help. But our eldest son lives only a mile from the care center. Just wondering if your plans for a long trip have changed due to FUEL prices or other family issues?

RE: They Got Me!!!

It would have been justice, if you ran over him while he was under your rig. The biggest problem is the junk dealers. If they would not buy these objects, ( MOSTLY STOLEN ) from these crooks there would 0 market for them. These crooks know what rigs have the biggest and most expensive converters, thus your rig was targeted.

RE: I used E-Bay to buy something, PayPal fraud alert!

I receiver 3 pay pal E mails this week wanting me to upgrade my account. Trouble is I HAVE NO PAY PAL account. So along with your bank ID number, SS number, and Credit card number, this information was necessary for the up grade. Yah Right. They are out there, so be careful.

Improve your Towing Milage?

Yesterday i went to one of those NASCAR shows. The ones that they bring out two or three race cars, along with other hands on exhibits, Tire changing, Driver simulators, Etc. These events are staged in shopping centers, Food store lots, Etc. When talking with one of the transport drivers,( They were driving 08 Dodge Diesels, 3500 series, 4 door. Of the 4 trucks two were 08 Dodges, the other two were 07 Fords, Also diesel, 4 door cabs.) All the trucks had that air scoop , or shield mounted on there trucks roof. So I asked if these really worked, or just kept the bugs off the trailer. These enclosed trailers are about 30 to 35' long, as they carry the race car, plus other related materials needed for the shows. He stated that prior to all there trucks having this air scoop on, his was the first to have it installed, he would get about 1 to 1.5 MPG better than the same make Dodge pulling the same loads, over the same highways, without the scoop. So it appears that these scoops do improve milage, even though slightly, as these trucks put on a LOT of miles every year, so in there case, they should be a pay off verses cost.

RE: Need bigger truck!

The only thing I could say is, do not limit your TV by going from Diesel to Gas. Down the road you might just want to upgrade your TT or move up to a fiver. With that gas engine option, you might again have to look for another Diesel TV.

Turbo 3000 Fuel Saver?

My son is thinking about installing one of these in line fuel gizmos that will increase his Diesel fuel milage. He runs a class 8 rig that gets about 8MPG. Sometimes his GCVWR is 80,000 to 100,000 Lbs. The setup runs about $125 dollars, that is without installation. Installed about $ 400. Looking for input on personal usage of item or knowledge of it's usage. Thanks.

RE: Cat or Cummins

CAT is exiting the MotorhomeMarket?? Maybe after 2010. That 'might' steer me to go with Cummins. TOM The Cat news releases state they will NOT build a 2010 EPA compliant engine, so they are actually exiting with the 2009 model year engine. International Harvester will make engines for Cat after 2010. Cat is putting all there effort in OFF ROAD MACHINES.

RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!

Many states and Cities have this same law, even with higher fines. With todays $$$ crunch, expect this act as only the tip of the money iceberg. Chicago has the same law.

RE: 1998 Ford V10 Oil & Filter info. needed

Take your current oil filter number to a auto supply house, or stop in to a FORD dealership. They will have the correct numbers and oil type for your engine. This engine is no different than the ones offered in there truck line.

RE: Busted the rear bumper!

whats with all the plastic bumpers there putting on rvs now they should be putting on a real bumper .mine is a thick aluminum bumper with steel backer and a thick rubber wrap around pad attached to it for small bumps.it would take a good bump to it just to put a mark on it with out doing any damage. They are trying to cut down on weight, and improve on MPG, just like the cars do.

RE: Stench

Go to your local Ace Hardware store, and pick up a product called FRESH WAVE. Give it a try, for about 10 to 15 dollars you probably will solve your problem. AND save a lot of $$$$.

RE: Who tows in Overdrive?

With my 98.5 Ram, Cummins powered, I Tow in OD all the time. But if entering parts of our country with mountains, or are rather hilly, the OD is off. My fiver is a Sunnybrook in the 10,000 # class. You have to use common sense when towing in OD.

RE: When to buy F450?

Do you need this truck now, or are you willing to do more shopping and looking around. Remember, if buying this truck or any other from out of your area, your local FORD dealer may not be to happy to service this truck. OH it will be serviced, but you will be on the L O N G list when it is brought in. By shopping around you should get a good idea on prices for the F 450. Also remember that this is a limited issue production truck, not your typical F 150 run. Good Luck.

RE: Cover for rear window

When we were camping this last Wed, a class A was next to our fiver, this class A had what appeared to be a movable aluminum coated sun screen that covered the entire window. I think it was on some kind of a track that they just folded out of the way when not in use. Other than seeing them enter there tow car, they were never out of there unit, NEVER. Some camping?

RE: NEVER STAY HERE-SUNROCKS RV PARK

That is the reason we hardly ever, ever, camp at private camp grounds. They nickel and dime you to death. As stated camping is a FAMILY experience, that includes all of those those rug rats. God bless them. So it is off to the State, Federal, ETC camp grounds, where you can go hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching, or just sit around the camp fire, without having to pay for those extra add ons to enjoy the family experiences.

RE: Cat article # 2

That news was good for CUMMINS stock holders, as there stock went up yesterday. They already meet the 2010 standard, with there engines, starting with the 07 model year.
